Mmmmh… There would be tons of things to say about this art, how I drew it, in which conditions, what happened meanwhile… But it would be far too long to talk about all these things. Just keep in mind I started to draw it in a bar in Sangubashi (Tokyo), the Anea Café, and finally finished it… at the hospital !... By the way, this is where I am right about now, writing this comment !...

Anyway, I recently realized (on the Internet and whatever) how popular was Sailor Saturn (Hotaru Tomoe)… it’s kinda amazing ! Is she even more popular than Sailor Mercury (Mizuno Ami) ?... People always appreciate that sort of characters: quite, shy, mysterious… She reminds me of Ayanami Rei (Evangelion) and Yukishiro Tomoe (Rurouni Kenshin). If I remember well, Watsuki Nobuhiro was inspired by Hotaru Tomoe to create Yukishiro Tomoe. It’s maybe the reason why they have the same first name… haha !

I love these “cold beauty” characters who barely smile, but I didn’t want to draw Sailor Saturn like that. Plus, in addition to being shy and all that, Sailor Saturn looks real young in the original Sailor Moon manga and anime. I was tired of her childish appearance as well. So guess what? I decided to draw Sailor Saturn smiling and with the body of a woman. I love big boobs so let me draw them hahaha !

When my brother checked the art, he told me the final result was a little bit kitsch. Hell yeah, it’s totally assumed ! Sailor Moon serie always been kitsch after all, don’t you think ? And I think I’m a kitsch person, don’t forget I’m Asian after all !

No disrespect, but I think Japanese people are hella kitsch as well . But I luv it !
