Radio interview & 50'000 visits on MySpace

Journal Entry: Sun Nov 8, 2009, 12:28 AM
Hello dear MySpace and DeviantArt friends!

I have very special news today, two to be more precise:

Firstly, I’ll be interviewed on the radio one more time! It’s gonna be SUNDAY, NOVEMBER 15 from 10PM to 12PM on LA RADIO PLUS (4’000’000 listeners and plus between France and Switzerland). I know you may not understand French, but the musical selection (exclusively Hip-Hop & RnB) is gonna be great! And of course I’ll talk about my artworks and my collabos with artists from the rap game.

The second thing’s that we exceeded 50’000 visits on my MySpace account ([link]) and I’d like to thank you for that! I started my MySpace page more than two years ago (in April-May 2007) and I never thought I’d meet so many people and collaborate with some of my favourite artists because of that social network. I’m not that kind of lucky dude in my everyday life, but everything’s so fine with the drawing right now. So I take it as a blessing and I really hope you’ll continue to watch my stuffs and support me. I need that love, so thank you very much one more time!

Eternal peace,

_Tuân aka French MonTuana

Hello everyone! It’s gonna be kinda useless to write the following post in English, but still I’m a do it. Call it practice ^^!

Maybe I already told you in a previous post, but I say it again: I’ll be interviewed on the radio alongside the beatmaker ChromatikS to talk about our common project, the G-Funk album “À la Conquête de l’West”. ChromatikS did the music, I did the drawing (the cover and a comic inside the booklet). It’s going to be the occasion for me to talk about my personal projects as well (collabos with famous rap artists, etc.).

I’ll be on Couleur3 in the show Downtown Boogie, the most popular Hip-Hop radio show in Switzerland! I know that most visitors on my websites do not speak or understand French, and that you can’t listen to Couleur3 … it really sucks. But the show will be available on the Internet after diffusion.

So if you wanna listen to ChromatikS and Tuân on radio, live and direct, check:

Couleur3 – Downtown Boogie
Friday, October 2
From 10PM to 11PM

We global baby!

Eternal peace,

_Tuân

« Why are Swiss people that slow ? »

I asked myself about that a lot of times. I never understood how and why people could be that slow sometimes, that inefficient. I guess it’s a European specificity because when you think about the administrations or mentalities in a lot of European countries, they’re all terribly SLOW. And in that case, Switzerland (where I live) is not an exception at all. It’s maybe one of the worst.

Just before, I was in the post office to look for a package. Firstly, I don’t know where they get their employees, but they’re totally incompetent. It took almost 20 minutes to the cashier to get my package. I can understand it can be long if you work in a post office in a big city, but I live in a small town in Geneva where nothing ever happens and where nobody lives. So come on, with less than ten packages in front of you, you’re not able to find the right one? After 15 minutes I told the cashier to let met go behind the desk to let me take my courier!

Secondly, if you wanna go to the post office in Switzerland, you gotta be there between 8:30 AM to 11:30 AM, or between 15 PM and 18 PM. Seriously, can we call it a schedule? Most of the shops and offices in Switzerland follow that kinda timesheets. So how do you think work and effort mentalities can change? A country like Switzerland is embedded in traditions. But when I mean Swiss traditions I don’t mean “beautiful culture” and all that, I mean slow mentalities and backward states of mind. Don’t be surprised if a bitch like Hans-Rudolf Schmerz (actual president of Swiss confederation) has been fucked by Khadafi with that hostage’s story.

I guess I do think that way cuz I worked a lot of times those last years with American rappers. In the US, everything is fast but efficient. Okay, I do admit that it’s not as comfortable as in Switzerland under a lot of aspects, but US people think and do fast. Something Swiss people can’t. Another thing in the US is that you don’t necessarily need a diploma to find a work and be successful in your life. Everything’s about your merit out there, liberalism. In Switzerland, you’ll always need to prove that you deserve a job in showing a long list of collaborations on your curriculum vitae. But the things you did, do, and will do by yourself don’t count because your personal motivations and creativity aren’t taken into consideration. It forces you to swim with the flow. But only dead fishes do that. That’s what I call the CV complex, when you need an external legitimacy instead of yours. In short, it means for me you’re a fag cuz you need to suck dicks to become somebody.

Where are the exciting challenges? They do not exist in Switzerland where everything’s too calm, too predictable, where minds are atrophied. There are no struggles, no reason to fight for something, no cause, people are not hungry, and they don’t wanna fulfil their dreams. I really regret that because a lot of people I know have that Swiss slowness and that Swiss self-sufficiency. When I’ve done six projects, they try to do one…

Alright, you choose. Go work in a bank or whatever, you’ll earn 10’000 francs per month. But you ain’t shit without cash. You’re neither a winner nor a loser: you’re nothing. You’re a victim. You need things that do not come from you to feel alive. You don’t live for yourself.

That’s why people like me are much better than you.

Damn, it feels good to be oneself.

Leave me the fuck alone

Yeah, I know it may sound vulgar but I don’t care : leave me the fuck alone.

I dunno why but a lot of people that I know or don’t (really) know always ask me for silly stuffs such as “can you do something for me”, “can you write a biography or a press kit for me”, “can you help me”…

First thing first, I ain’t a selfish person. I recognize I’m an individualist under a lot of aspects and I do my thangs most of the time all by myself, but I’m not a selfish type of person. I’m even the first to help my friends when they have an idea or a project in their mind, and they know that. And you know why I help them? Because it stimulates me as well. Yeah, you can say what you want, but if it doesn’t sound interesting to me I ain’t rolling with you. So stop asking me for your insignificant / personal stuffs cuz I ain’t giving a fuck about it. It is not creative, it is not interesting. In fact, those people are the selfish ones, not me. They consider you as their worker, point blank. And then, after the service is done, they directly forget about you.

As long as it’s business minded, it’s okay for me. It’s clear, I’m down with that. Everybody gets his money, buys new shoes, and that’s cool. But a lot of people act like they were your friends. I’m not thinking about the fact they’ll invite me to their wedding or whatever, but don’t be a fake ass cuz I can feel it in the air. Since I had the chance to draw for some names in the Hip-Hop game, a lot of dick sucking lips appeared in my life. And it really pisses me off.

I don’t wanna say people always need my help because I’m qualified in certain domains or whatever the fuck. But why do they have to depend on a guy like me in so many ways ? I am no Marcel Proust for the writing, I am no Yoshiyuki Sadamoto for the drawing. I am nothing. I’m just a guy who decided to depend on no one. So if somebody like me can do that, everybody can. Just let me have fun, just let me draw and do my wack movies.

One day, my brother Nam told me my position as an artist was great, because I was totally independent. But when things take a whole new state in evolving too fast, you realize you may need somebody else like a manager. I just wanna do me : creativity.

Most of the time, I'm thinking about the drawing. I don’t care about who you know in the music industry and all that. If you need to lie to approach me and to ask me for an illustration, you ain’t real and I ain’t fucking with that. But still I met great people and it’s damn good because it’s really rare.

But if you have no love, no ideas, no feeling, no concept and no universe in what you do, you can LEAVE ME THE FUCK ALONE.

Peace.

_Tuân
